Name: Katie Dunman
Title: Sonographer
When did you start at The HOPE Center? April 2022
How did you initially get connected with The HOPE Center? My neighbor told me The HOPE Center was hiring for a sonographer position. Then God led me straight here!
How have you seen God work through this ministry? I should’ve started a journal when I started working here to keep up with it all. I have seen relationships restored, women and children receive housing, and He has shown me countless ways how HE has worked through this ministry. Now I’m just waiting to hold one of the sweet babies!
Favorite memory with The HOPE Center? My favorite memory, so far, was walking through a journey with a client who became homeless with her three children at the beginning of her pregnancy. They were living out of their car and we were working on assisting them with housing. We were running into hurdles and having a hard time finding placement when someone “randomly” (*God wink) reached out and offered their complete finished basement for the family to move into, no strings attached. Several weeks later, hearing the client’s voice on the phone, I could literally hear the joy in her voice that was once fear and uncertainty.
Favorite bible verse? “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” -Proverbs 3:5-6.
Fun fact about you? I love to travel, I just don’t always travel well. Heading home from the ICU Mobile Conference in Ohio, I had to pull my luggage apart in line at the airport looking for my debit card that I thought was still in the hotel room. (I found it!)
Favorite color? Glitter….or light blue!
Favorite food? Sweet potato soufflé
You have your own late night talk show, who do you invite as your first guest? Cinderella. I’d love to ask her how to wake up so flawlessly with birds as my alarm clock.
You have to sing karaoke, what song do you pick? I can’t sing well and don’t like to be the center of attention, so it would have to be a group song. I’m thinking “Shake It Off” by Taylor Swift.
If you had to eat one meal every day for the rest of your life what would it be? Probably chicken, macaroni and cheese, and a vegetable…practicality! It would be sustainable and you can cook chicken in so many different ways so hopefully I wouldn’t get too tired of it.
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? A minister/preacher! I had this idea that I would be like all of the preachers I saw on TV. It wasn’t until I realized that I needed more than just a desire to tell everyone about Jesus in order to lead a church. God has shown me ways I’m able to minister to others without leading a congregation and it has been really amazing to see how a small dream as a child has come to fruition just slightly different than I had imagined.
